Ramblings: Is volunteering the answer to my problems?

I have always wanted to volunteer once I finished uni. Somewhere overseas in a complete foreign culture. I have always believed that it may be my calling. But now that the time has come to start planning, I feel very overwhelmed with all the places that I could go, that it is hard to choose where might be best. It has made me doubt whether volunteering is right for me. I worry that I won't fit in, and that I won't connect with people. But then maybe it is exactly what I need to find my niche, and to truly connect with other people. I am in no means worried about the work being too taxing, I enjoy doing things that help others, things that have a purpose. I guess I'm just scared that I will be terribly lonely. But in my mind I know that I won't be satisfied unless I at least give it a go.

Sometimes it's good to ramble away, to loosen and untie some of the knots in your mind.

Glowing Skin -Three Products

I thought this day would never come, but here it is...I now love to glow!
I used to have such an aversion to glowing skin because it just made me feel greasy and dirty! I could never achieve the 'lit from within' look. But now due to a series of events (my skin has changed, I have upped the anti on skincare and I now wear a lot less foundation), I find myself loving a natural glow a lot more. It can make you feel more relaxed, and I find myself worrying less about how my makeup wears throughout the day and just sort of go with it. I touch up with powder, but not nearly as much as I used to back in my uni days.

Products I rely on to enhance the glow:

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. I love this moisturiser! It is so nourishing and moisturising but never seems to look greasy on the skin. I use out pretty much daily at the moment because my skin gets terribly dehydrated! It also creates a great base for makeup to go onto and acts as a nice subtle primer.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint. Now i know that the name says matte... but I find this product to go on matte, but actually wear beautifully throughout the day into a natural finish. I apply this straight on top of my Embriolisse moisturiser and use a Real Techniques Buffing Brush to work it the product into my skin. I use a light dusting of powder on the T-zone, but only very little!! It stays put pretty much all day, with only a small amount of wear that I could touch up, but it doesn't really bother me.

Topshop Glow Highlighter in Polish. This in the cherry on top of my makeup routine...and the name says it all! It's like a pearly champagne colour and looks amazingly subtle on the cheekbones. I usually apply this across the tops of my cheekbones with my fingers, and buff in with my buffing brush to create a more natural finish.

So these are the products I rely on to create a lovely and natural glow, which I find to be beautiful all year round! What products do you rely on for maximum glow factor?

Different Blogs I'm loving

These blogs are my most frequented of late. They sort of fit into three categories; fashion, beauty and health.

The fashion bloggers:

Man Repeller. Wit, humour and fashion. This blog takes a very tounge in cheek approach to all things fashion and I love it! I also love the diet section where Leandra and Amelia subject their bodies to some very extreme diets such as the sugar diet, tequila diet and most recently, the Bastille Day Diet, which actually looks quite tasty! Always an entertaining read.

The Coveteur and IntotheGloss. I've paired these two blogs together because I find that they have a fairly similar structure. They both do awesome interviews with interesting people and take a look into their wardrobes and beauty regimes. My favourite reads  from The Coveteur are about the closets of Karli Kloss and Lisa Eldridge. IntotheGloss focuses more on the Top Shelf, by delving through the contents of peoples' bathrooms. My favourite Top Shelf has to be Lea Seydoux's, because I am absolutely obsessed with her!

The beauty gurus:

Viviannadoesmakeup and LilyPebbles. These are my trusty guides for all things beauty. A mix of high end and drug store products, these blogs are great if you're looking for something new but not sure whether or not to buy it. The reviews are honest, regardless of sponsoring, and the makeup menus are actually quite inspiring, especially because Anna and Lily are not makeup artists, and have just as much luck of perfecting winged liner as I do! I also love the weekly vlogs that both Anna and Lily do, especially because their vlogs often overlap.

The health girls:

DeliciouslyElla. I have loved this blog for a while now. It was the first raw vegan blog that I was actually inspired by, and gave me the kick that I needed to health up my diet! I always make the superfood bread, and even my brother is obsessed with it! The smoothies are also awesome and there are so many different flavours to choose from. It's a great blog if you're just starting out with changing your diet as there's so many tasty recipes to choose from!

NaturallySassy. I just discovered this blog about a week ago and since then I have made so many of the recipes! Being vegan and plant based this blog is perfect for me! I felt like I had been in a bit of a rut lately with cooking tasty meals that were also healthy and vegan, and out of luck and chance I came across this blog!

So these are my favourite blogs at the moment!

I need fun in my life -weekly rants

1. "The less you own the more freedom you have, so I went home and I threw it all away!"

2. Eyebrows are an addictive habit. So is nail polish. However, my actual brows and nails are never well groomed...

3. Sometimes chopping your own hair can feel really good! *Cue photo of a scruffy fringe*

4. It is perfectly acceptable to drink beers alone in a bar if... 1. the beer is tasty, 2. you are reading Kerouac, 3. it is daylight outside, and 4. the chairs are comfy!

5. I may or may not be in love with Daniel Radcliffe.

Jouer Matte Moisture Tint

I bought this about a week ago from Cult Beauty and have been wearing it all week! I have been leaning towards lighter coverage foundations, because my skin has really improved lately.  I can get away with wearing this with only a bit of concealer under the eyes and around my nose. It leaves such a natural finish on the  skin, and wears well throughout the day. I get quite an oily t-zone throughout the day but this leaves my skin with a lovely glow which doesn't look greasy.

The colour match is spot on for me. I got the shade Porcelain which is their lightest shade. It can be quite difficult finding a good shade because most turn out too pink or orange. Even though I have fair skin, in the summertime I can get quite an olive tan if I'm in the sun long enough.

The coverage is so subtle that sometimes I skip the blush, and it doesn't make me look washed out like most foundations do when I don't wear blush. But then its still able to blur imperfections, without looking like I have any products on my skin.

My favourite way to apply it is roughly with my fingers and then I buff it in with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and finish off with a light dusting of powder.

I was drawn to this product after reading reviews from thedauphine and essiebutton about it, and I have been lusting over it ever since! It's probably the most low maintenance tinted moisturiser/foundation I have ever tried. I feel like this is most definitely going to turn into an everyday HG for me!

Nars Sheer Glow -Unhappy Opinions

I wanted to love this foundation, but unfortunately I just couldn't. I have tried all different ways of applying it; with a primer, fingers, different brushes, but nothing seemed to work. It would go on alright, however if there was even a touch of dryness to my skin it would cling and emphasise the dryness. It also would not build up enough coverage in the areas I needed it, that being my nose and chin, but it would look too heavy on my cheeks. It wore badly throughout the day, slipping and sinking into my pores, especially on my cheeks and around my nose. But I know this is a cult product, which so many people love, unfortunately it just doesn't work for me. No matter how much I wanted it to! Next on my list to try is the Jouer Matte Moisture Tint and the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Hopefully I have better luck with these products!
